The McLean County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly motivated, community-oriented law enforcement professional to serve as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Washburn Public School District during the academic year and as a Patrol Deputy during school breaks or as department needs arise. This dual-role position is essential to fostering a safe and secure learning environment while maintaining public safety throughout our community.

Key Responsibilities:

As a School Resource Officer:

• Provide law enforcement presence and support on school campuses.
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Educate students and faculty on safety, crime prevention, and legal topics.
• Respond to and investigate incidents occurring on school property.
• Collaborate with school administrators to develop and implement safety protocols.

As a Patrol Deputy:

• Enforce local, state, and federal laws.
• Respond to calls for service, conduct traffic enforcement, and investigate crimes.
• Provide proactive patrols to deter criminal activity in assigned areas.
• Prepare detailed reports and testify in court as necessary.
