McLean County will accept applications until 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, filling one or more positions as a full-time Equipment Operator II. The successful applicant must reside within 30 minutes travel time of the Garrison Highway Shop. Duties include performing semi-skilled work and operating motorized equipment in road construction and maintenance/repair projects under supervision along with performing highway maintenance work ranging from manual labor to operating tractors and mowers on highway right of ways. Candidates should be able to operate medium and light equipment including single and tandem axle dump truck; single and tandem axle trucks with snow removal equipment for purpose of snow removal; motor graders with v-plow and wing for snow removal purposes on as needed basis; semi type truck with belly and side dump trailer; front end loader; backhoe; broom/sweeper; excavator; dozer and loader as needed; and power mowing equipment in a variety of road construction, snow removal, maintenance and repair projects.
Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in road construction/maintenance projects and vehicle/heavy equipment maintenance. High school diploma and class A North Dakota Driver’s License with tanker and air brake endorsement is REQUIRED on the first day of work. Underfilling the position may be considered depending on applicant pool with a requirement to complete hiring requirements within the six-month probation period.
